Guys' Guide to Periods

You say the word “period” and most guys automatically feel uncomfortable. It’s a handy party trick but hopefully this article will help reduce the awkwardness associated with menstruation. It’s 2017 for heaven’s sake! Why is there so much stigma attached to that one word?

Chances are at some point in your lifetime, you’ll be have to deal with the inconvenience that is Aunt Flo. If you think you’ll be exempt from this because you’re a guy, I hate to break it to you but that is so not the case. Mothers, sisters, friends, girlfriends - you will always be around women on their period, so you might as well get used to the word.

I got 5 girls to somehow mention their period to one of their male friends. Here are their reactions:

I also asked a bunch of guys to send me their queries about periods and I got a health care lecturer and two student nurses to answer the questions of those who dared to reply.

So there it is. Not so scary or awkward after all, right? Half of the population have periods at some point or other so let's start normalising it!
